Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA)
We are an organization of parents, caregivers, teachers, students, and staff members who aim to create community at WMS through facilitating engagement opportunities and meeting the needs of our educators and families. We believe that even though our middle schoolers are getting more independent, they still benefit from a strong community of adults around them.
What the PTSA does… We support our students, staff and families through community building opportunities and fundraising efforts needed to support WMS. Here are some examples:
- Monthly community meetings featuring topics important to parents and our school
- Hosting dinners at open house nights
- Classroom grants for every teacher and staff member to support the needs of students
- “Opportunity” grants to fund a new idea that any teacher or staff member feels could benefit their classroom or the school
- Recruitment and coordination of most volunteers
- Collective action through advocacy
