Language Arts at Washington
6th Grade prepares them for middle school reading and writing by introducing them to how to tackle difficult texts, revisiting international versions of fairy tales, and exploring how our brains are wired for stories and storytelling.
7th Grade continues to practice reading complex texts including a debate on whether or not students are addicted to screens, exploring what it means to ‘grow up’ and learning how to read like a detective.
8th Grade begin to prepare for high school by building habits of lifelong readers and writers, discover what metaphors they live by, and learn that essay writing can look at lot of different ways.
