WMS Back to School Open House & Block Party
    Posted on 08/15/2018
Back to SchoolOn Thursday, August 30th, your Washington Middle School family will hold an Open House and Block Party at the school. Due to parent demand, the school building will be open for scholars and families to acquaint themselves with the building from 10am-7pm on that day. Please be aware that school staff and administration will be in meetings and training throughout the day, so this will truly be a self-guided experience to provide scholars and families with an opportunity to gain experience and comfort with being in our beautiful school. On that same evening, we hope you will enjoy us for a Back to School Block Party on 20th Pl. S. (between S Weller St. and S Jackson St.) the street immediately in front of the school’s main entrance to enjoy some free pizza (non-pork options available), celebrate the beautiful new mural created by local artists, scholars, and families this summer, to meet Mrs. Butler Ginolfi, the new principal, to gather information on school and community partner programming, and to meet and greet the amazing members of our Washington school community. There will be an extremely brief program at 5:30 to celebrate the mural and introduce Mrs. Butler Ginolfi.

Lastly, we’ve received questions regarding a new scholar orientation. Washington Middle School has historically offered the first week of school as an orientation week, or Strong Start, where 100% of scholars are provided with information regarding how we do things at Washington. This is also an incredible opportunity for the school to gather important information about your scholar’s interests, goals, and learning students to build strong relationships to last throughout the year. This is an excellent practice and one that the school’s new leadership is excited to continue and build upon.

We are so excited to have your scholar and family as a part of this wonderful community and are looking forward to seeing you on August 30th.
