The Special Education department works collaboratively with school and District leaders, teachers, students, and families to provide the tools, guidance, supports, and services needed to ensure access and success for students with disabilities. The goals of the Special Education department for students receiving special education services are:

Guidelines
Guidelines for Elementary and/or Secondary Special Education Teacher Applicants:
- You must have an endorsement in Special Education
- You must be highly qualified in a core subject area (click here for more information):
- Elementary: You need to be highly qualified and/or dual endorsed in Elementary Education
- Secondary: You need to be highly qualified and/or dual endorsed in a core content area for Secondary Education
Salary Information
Seattle Public Schools offers a competitive salary for teachers. Salary Schedule 2014-15:
Starting Salary for a 1st year Teacher with a BA: $44,372
Starting Salary for a 1st year teacher with an MA: $52,270
Salary Range: $44,372-$86,435
New hires may also qualify for a $500 'hard to fill' bonus for working in a Special Education position.
